Mask of the Bear King

Design for an original concept of mine that is a loose retelling of the fairy tale "East of the Sun, West of the Moon."

The mask is a traditional wooden one that is the host of the spirit of the Great Bear King, a large and powerful polar bear who can bless the wearer with his strength, power and even form. The current bearer of the mask is rather unorthodox but gets along with the bear spirit for the most part, who acts as his confidant, conscience and mentor as well as vise versa.
